Standard Scale

The Standard Scale of both the Gosling and Swan models is 25.5". The objective was to maintain as much of the clarity and sparkle of the Extended Scale as possible but in a more familiar, traditional scale length. We continued with the tradition of the Extended Scale neck by not only using Hard Rock Maple for our neck we continue with our practice of using carbon fiber rods to increase the rigidity of the neck. This takes an already stable, stiff neck and makes it almost impervious to any condition and road wear while helping create the signature clarity and balance of a Soloway instrument.

Extended Scale

Our Extended Scale is based on a longer-than-normal 27" scale length.  Unlike most long scale length guitars, this is not a baritone.  It was designed to be tuned to standard pitch.  It has a pair of carbon fiber rods in the neck to help withstand the added tension that results from the longer scale length. Combined with the chambered (or hollow) body construction of the Swan and Gosling, the 27-inch scale length produces a remarkable level of clarity, presence, and articulation that most guitarists have never experienced.  When playing a our Extended Scale, the notes just seem to jump off the instrument.  The high end has an added, piano-like sparkle and the low end is tight, clear and focused, and our guitars seem to play "more in-tune" through the entire length of the fingerboard.

Standard Spacing

The standard string spacing of all Soloway instruments is a familiar 1 11/16" nut width with a string spacing at the bridge of 2 1/16". Its a universally familiar spacing that should be comfortable for almost anyone who has played guitar.

Advanced Spacing

Our advanced spacing is something uniquely Soloway. Continuing on our quest to build amongst other things, the ultimate Jazz Fingerstyle guitar, the Advanced Spacing option increases the neck with a full 1/8 inch starting at the nut (1 13/16") and going all the way up the neck resulting in a custom made bridge spaced at 2 3/16".
